I have only started using this tool. I have not dived into any of the advanced functionality that it offers. I solely use it to swap Escape and Caps_Lock. If you are after a more in depth video there is a nice summary by Gavin Freeborn.

I personally switched from xmodmap to KMonad when I was facing issues with some programs not picking up the correct keys that had been switched.

KMonad is cross-platform between all 3 major desktop operating systems which could be huge for some users.
